In the first Yakuza, Majima said something along the lines of "Kiryu's my friend, only I get the privilege of killing him." Think that's been phased out of his character, or is still a lingering thought? And what WOULD happen if Majima won against Kazuma? Would he drop the -chan?

It’s funny you’d ask that, I’ve been thinking a lot about this quote lately.
Okay, here’s my brainstorming, sorry if it’s a little chaotic.
This is one of the situations were it would be better to know Japanese and not just know it, but be able to read between the lines and get subtle nuances.
I myself can’t, so I gotta stick with the English quote.
I don’t think he’d want to kill Kazuma in a fight (anymore?), their friendship or whatever you wanna call their relationship, has changed a lot. In Yakuza 1 Kiryu just left Majima lying on the floor (okay, Majima wasn’t alone) in the batting center after he just saved his life. Not only that, he just assumed he died (“Majima, you’re alive?!” -> Soapland), he never asked how he’s doing and he didn’t care at all.
Compare this to Majima lying on the street after he risked his life to keep his promise in Yakuza 2, when Kaz ran towards him, held him in his arms and made sure Kaoru would take him to Emoto’s clinic.
After the coliseum fight in Y2, Kaz wanted to help Majima get up, but he didn’t take his hand. In Y3 he did.
Of course, I’m talking mostly about Kiryu’s part here, but to me it’s just a (non-lethal) game between the two by now. If Kiryu wants something, he has to fight him, ‘cause Majima loves this particular challenge. There’s no evidence of murderous intentions, but many proofs that he truly cares about his Kiryu-chan. There’s not the smallest hint in the later games that he wants to kill him in a fight.
And maybe he didn’t even back then in Y1 and that quote is just easy to misunderstand. Perhaps he just saw it as a disgrace to a great man like Kiryu that some random “stupid fuck” would kill him by stabbing him cowardly from behind when he let his guard down for a second. A great man and fighter like Kiryu would deserve to die while fighting a worthy opponent, which of course in Majima’s opinion is Majima himself. It’s also interesting that he called it “privilege”. A privilege is usually something that is given, not taken …which is probably why this quote makes Majima come across as totally insane. Here’s a different perspective: Killing someone can under certain circumstances be the ultimate proof of loyalty and friendship. Imagine a situation where you’d be hurt / sick or suffering and there’d be no chance of a cure or a way to get out, so you’d prefer death over suffering. If you couldn’t kill yourself, you would want someone else to do it, and since dying is kinda intimate and a really big deal, you’d want it to be someone you can trust blindly and is close to you like a friend (of course one could argue whether putting a friend in a situation like that would be fair or not…). I still wouldn’t call it a privilege, but the faith that person has in you can be “an honor”.
Sure, this seems far-fetched, but the rgg universe is dramatic like that and something similar happened in Dead Souls when Majima thought he’d go zombie and asked Kiryu to kill him then. You could tell Kiryu wasn’t exactly happy, but he agreed and promised, and I think this was a very close, intimate moment between the two.
Anyway, it’s a different take on the whole matter.
Regarding “what would happen if Majima won against Kiryu”: I don’t think he’d drop the -chan. Going by the way they refer to / call each other, Majima’s the top dog and Kiryu somewhere below him. The -chan is ridiculously inappropriate for a grown-up man like Kiryu,  who not only is a yakuza but has been the 4th chairman as well. Coming from Majima (in public, too!), it has a teasing / mocking, gentle, affectionate (I’d even say slightly homoerotic) ring to it. He doesn’t drop the -chan despite Kiryu beating the shit out of him every single time, so if anything, one would think he’d stick to it even more.
In general, I could imagine winning against Kiryu would be Majima’s worst nightmare coming true. His favorite, biggest challenge would be gone. Maybe he secretly doesn’t want to win. Of course, he doesn’t hold back while fighting him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t expect / hope to win at all. Kiryu is his ultimate opponent (besides Saejima, since they’re focusing more and more on him) and that image would be destroyed. If Majima feels about Kiryu like a little brother, he might even be proud of him (when Kiryu wins). This would all change.
Majima gets bored very easily and one of his favorite thrills wouldn’t be a thrill anymore. …Kinda reminds me of Kakihara in the final scenes of Ichi the Killer.

Looking for Yakuza 5 videos in HD?

The cutscenes are still getting removed from youtube and niconico on the other hand is so cramped with Yakuza 5 videos that it can be difficult to find the best quality. o-mailey (thank you!) recently shared this link with me:

http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/35372718

It’s a complete playlist of all RgG 5 cutscenes (only cutscenes) in 1280x720. As far as I can tell, a few very short scenes seem to be missing, but it’s no big deal.
If you don’t have a premium account, you have to make sure you choose a time when there’s not much traffic. o-mailey recommended 2am-5pm JST and it has worked perfectly. If the player is too small and doesn’t display the video in full size, just try downloading it instead.

Seriously?? A wallpaper and icons? That’s it?! That’s what I’ve been voting for like crazy, to get content I could’ve made myself in Gimp? They didn’t even use new pictures of Majima like they did for the LINE stickers!!!

I’m so disappointed!

Remember when Takashi Miike totally made a Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku movie

Majima (Kishitani) totally pwned that movie.

I 56! I love him too! He's a Mad-dog. I love /Ryu ga Gotoku/ so much. I'm finding to series Kenzen and 3 for long times because It's out of stock. I hope them will create a new series.. I want to control Majima like a series END of Yakuza!

If you are still looking for Yakuza 3 and Kenzan!, try ordering them online, it’s the easiest way.

You can find Kenzan! on playasia and yesasia, and Yakuza 3 on Amazon for example. As far as I know, most Amazons ship internationally, so just go to another one when it’s out of stock on the Amazon of your country.

eBay would be another option, but in some countries eBay doesn’t allow adult rated games to be sold. Many sellers don’t care though.

Majima being playable in the main series would be my dream too, but unfortunately Yokoyama has confirmed that this is not gonna happen. So we can only hope for another spin off like Dead Souls one day! :(
